Luang Prabang – A world heritage
The bus ride on 30.Sep from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang was the most scenic we have had on our journey so far. The 7hour bus ride took us high into the Laotian mountains and offered spectacular views of the surrounding area. Laos is truly a beautiful country with lush rainforests, gigantic waterfalls and spectacular mountain scenery.Beo – the talking bird at breakfast -
Vang Vieng – A beautiful landscape
After a brief stay in Vientiane we continued our journey north to Vang Vieng. Our bus left the capital early in the morning on 25.September and drove for roughly 4hours before arriving in Vang Vieng. We immediately made our way to Pan’s Place, a guesthouse which had received great ratings on both hostelworld and tripadvisor.

Vientiane – The Capital
Our “Super VIP” overnight horror bus ride arrived in Vientiane at 8am on 24.September. The bus station was located several kilometers outside of town and a long line of tuk-tuk drivers were already waiting to take the new arrivals into town. Luckily, we had read that Vietiane had a very efficient public bus system.

Pakse – Southern Laos
After a 15hour bus ride from Siem Reap over the Cambodian-Laos border we were more than glad to finally arrive in Pakse. It was already dark and pouring with rain. We took an overpriced tuk-tuk from the bus station to our accomodation “Nang Noi GH” where we had booked a two night stay.

Temples Day 3 – Angkor Wat & Angkor Thom
The day had finally come to see Angkor Wat, a world wonder!
Our tuk-tuk driver picked us up at 4:30am (yes, it was very early) so that we could make some great snap-shots of Angkor Wat at sunrise. Unfortunately, we were not the only ones with this idea.

Temples Day 2 – The Grand Circle
Our second temple day on 17.Sep began with an 8am pick up at our hotel. Today, we had planned to complete the “Grand Circle”. Our first destination was Ta Prohm, a temple used to shoot “Tomb Raider” and famous for the trees that have seemingly suffocated parts of the temple. The temple was one of the most interesting sites of our entire three day tour.

Temples Day 1 – Banteay Srey, Banteay Samre and Rolous
We began our three day temple tour on 16.September after flagging down a tuk-tuk on that morning. Our plan was to visit Banteay Srey, Banteay Samre and the Rolous Group. Siem Reap – The gateway to the Khmer Empire
After little sleep and creepy construction workers in Battambang we were very glad to arrive in Siem Reap on 15.Sep. Unfortunately, minutes after arriving in Siem Reap it started to pour with rain and we found ourselves stuck waiting for the rain to stop in a small store near the road side where a very friendly Cambodian family had invited us in. We had never seen such a heavy downpour in our lives!

Battambang – The city of Wat’s
We arrived in Battambang on 13.Sep following a 6hour bus ride from Phnom Penh. Initially, we had considered spending 2 days/3 nights in Battambang but upon our arrival at our accomodation “Ganesha Family GH” we decided to shorten our stay. We did not get up to much on the day we arrived as it was already late afternoon and it was raining very hard.

Phnom Penh – The Capital
Initially, we had arranged to take a bus on 11.Sep from Kampot to Sihanoukville. However, as the mini-van drove up in front of our hotel in Kampot it was clear that our plans had to change. The mini-van already had over 16 persons sitting in it and the driver wanted the three of us waiting at the hotel to get on as well. There was no way this was possible.
