First tip of the day: NEVER visit Pushkar!!!
We took an early (7am) train from Jodhpur to the city of Pushkar. Pushkar is a small town located close to the city of Ajmer and the Thar Desert. It is one of the holiest cities in Rajahstan and is visited by many Hindu pilgrims every day. (more…)
From Jaisalmer we took a 6hour train to the beautiful city of Jodhpur. We arrived in Jodhpur late at night and to our surprise it was raining! The first rain we had seen in India. The streets were flooded and many people had come to the train station to shelter themselves from the rain, resulting in the train station being completly overcrowded. We had not seen so many people in the same place at once since Delhi. (more…)
After a long and (again) sleepless night in the train we finally arrived in Bikaner on 14 July around 7am. Bikaner has a population of roughly 7million and is located near the Thar desert. As we arrived at the train station people began starring at us, as though we were aliens. Uncertain how we were going to get to Jaisalmer and unable to find anyone who spoke english and was willing to help us, we became very frustrated. Luckily a tuk-tuk driver called Monu had just arrived at the station and saw the two of us… (more…)
Finally we are lying in our upper beds in the train to bikaner. Man, we had to run like crazy to jump onto the starting train. (yes it was already rolling) to get into the right wagon. We nearly missed it. (more…)
We left Germany on 12 July around 11am to catch our first flight via Dubai to Delhi. The plane arrived in Delhi on 13 July at 02:45am. Luckily we had arranged for the hotel (Hotel Aerocity) to pick us up. After a short night with little to no sleep we were woken the next morning around 9am by the hotel reception. Apparently we had arranged an 8 hour Delhi Tour with the Hotel (for 1700 rupees (roughly 20euro)) the night before and the reception was calling to tell us that our taxi had arrived. (more…)
